DAWSON CREEK – The Nawican Friendship Centre has received $42,000 thanks to the B.C. government’s Community Gaming Grant program.

The Nawican Friendship Centre, a non-profit society, offers counselling, information, resources, guidance and programs. The $42,000 grant will go towards its Hot Meal Program.

“The Nawican Friendship Centre helps make life better for people in our community,” Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier said. “Funding will help them continue serving residents here in the Dawson Creek area.”

This grant is awarded under the Human and Social Services category of the Community Gaming Grant program, which allows non-profit organizations to apply for provincial gaming revenues from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development. Gaming Grants are also awarded in the categories of Public Safety, Sports and Arts and Culture and Environment.
