VANCOUVER – Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier was tasked of chairing the first B.C. Roundtable on the Economy and the Environment on March 28, 2014 in Vancouver.
“It was a great pleasure to have chaired the first B.C. Roundtable on the Economy and Environment,” said Peace River South MLA, Mike Bernier. “This roundtable discussion brought together representatives from First Nations, industry, the environmental sector, local government and labour organizations for a positive and productive discussion.”
MLA Bernier added, “Our government is committed to finding best practices and solutions from all stakeholders ensuring we continue to be the leader in economic growth in Canada, while protecting our pristine environment. Our government has made it a priority in finding solutions to balance of the needs of natural resource extraction and industrial use with the environment.”
The B.C. Roundtable on the Economy and Environment brings together representatives from local government, industry and labour representatives, First Nations leaders and the environmental sector facilitating a discussion to find solutions to balance the needs of resource development and industrial use with the environment.
